About this course

Children's nursing is a field of nursing practice dedicated to the care of children and young people from birth through adolescence, and it demands both a thorough understanding of childhood development and health and the ability to communicate effectively with children, families and young people in what are often frightening and distressing circumstances. Children's nurses work in neonatal units, paediatric wards, community settings, schools and specialist services, supporting children through acute illness, chronic conditions, surgery and end-of-life care. At Wrexham University, this three-year full-time degree leads to registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a children's nurse, combining academic learning with clinical placement hours from the beginning of the programme.
