About this course

Biomedical science is the application of biological and chemical knowledge to the understanding of health and disease. It sits at the interface between the fundamental life sciences and clinical medicine, investigating the mechanisms through which diseases develop, how the body responds to infection and injury, and how diagnostic tests and treatments work at the molecular, cellular and physiological levels. Biomedical scientists working in NHS and private laboratory services perform the diagnostic tests that underpin the majority of clinical decisions, making the profession indispensable to the healthcare system. At Bangor University this programme runs full time over four years and includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and work-placement experience, giving you a substantial period of practical laboratory and professional experience alongside your academic studies.
