About this course

Forensic Sciences applies the methods of the natural and physical sciences to the investigation and analysis of evidence in legal and criminal contexts. It encompasses a broad range of disciplines: chemistry, biology, toxicology, DNA analysis, ballistics, digital forensics, and scene examination all fall within its scope. The forensic scientist's role is to provide objective scientific evidence that assists the courts in determining the truth, and doing this well requires both deep technical expertise and a rigorous understanding of how evidence is handled, interpreted, and presented.
