About this course

Computer systems engineering is the discipline concerned with the design, development and optimisation of the hardware, software and embedded systems that underlie modern digital technology. From microprocessors and network infrastructure to operating systems and real-time embedded controllers, computer systems engineers work at the level where hardware and software meet, developing the deep technical understanding of both that is needed to build reliable, efficient and secure digital systems. At Middlesex University this programme, which includes a foundation element and a sandwich year, develops that capability from the ground up. You will study the fundamentals of computer architecture, digital electronics, programming, operating systems, networks and embedded systems, developing both theoretical understanding and practical design and implementation skills.
