About this course

Civil engineering shapes the world we inhabit more directly than almost any other discipline. Roads, bridges, tunnels, flood defences, water treatment systems, high-rise structures and transport networks all bear the mark of civil engineers, who must combine rigorous mathematical and scientific understanding with practical problem-solving and an awareness of the social and environmental contexts in which they work. Over three years of full-time study at Cardiff University you will build from the foundations of structural mechanics, fluid dynamics and geotechnics to more advanced topics such as structural analysis, transport engineering, water engineering and construction management.
