About this course

Graphic design is the practice of visual communication: creating meaning through the deliberate arrangement of type, image, colour, and form. It is a discipline that combines creative thinking with technical skill, asking how ideas can be made visible in ways that are clear, compelling, and appropriate to their context and audience. Good graphic design is everywhere, from the packaging on a supermarket shelf to the interface of a smartphone app, and learning to do it well requires both a strong sense of aesthetics and a deep understanding of how people read and respond to visual information. At Wrexham University, this three-year full-time programme includes a foundation year that provides a thorough grounding in both the theory and practice of graphic design before you move into the main degree curriculum.
