AI cannot yet do much of what this job actually involves, and the law requires human oversight. That human could be you. That is about as safe as careers get right now, though it is still worth learning to use the tools well.

The role

As a Property Solicitor, you guide clients through the legal side of buying, selling or renting property. You check that everything is legal and fair, write and review contracts and agreements, and make sure the deal protects your client. You might help someone buy their first house, handle a big commercial property deal, or sort out a disagreement about a lease or tenancy.

Your work involves reading and writing legal documents carefully, researching property law, and talking to the other side's solicitors to negotiate the best terms. You advise clients on their rights and what they need to do. You also handle disputes - for example, if a tenant won't leave or there is a disagreement about who owns something. The job needs excellent attention to detail, a good understanding of the law, and the ability to explain complicated things in a way clients can understand.

Daily responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough legal research on property laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients on property transactions, including buying, selling, and leasing.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with other parties involved in property deals.
  • Attend meetings with clients, estate agents, and other legal professionals.
  • Handle disputes related to property ownership and tenancy.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes in property law and market trends.
  • Manage case files and maintain accurate records of transactions.
