Probate Manager
Probate managers help families deal with what happens to someone's money, property and belongings after they die. They handle the legal paperwork, work out what things are worth, and make sure everything gets shared out fairly according to the person's wishes.

The role
As a probate manager, you help families during a really difficult time. When someone dies, their money and possessions need to be sorted out and given to the right people. You are the person who guides families through this whole process and answers their questions.
Most days you will meet with families, look at bank statements and property deeds, work with lawyers and the tax office, and make sure everything is handled correctly. You will value homes and other belongings, fill in the proper forms for HMRC, make sure debts are paid, and help distribute what's left to whoever the person named in their will. You need to be organised and careful with detail, and kind and patient with people who are grieving.
Daily responsibilities
- Oversee the administration of estates from initial application to final distribution.
- Liaise with clients, beneficiaries, and legal professionals to gather necessary documentation.
- Prepare and file all required probate applications and tax returns with HMRC.
- Conduct thorough asset valuations and manage estate accounts.
- Resolve any disputes or challenges that arise during the probate process.
- Provide guidance and support to clients on legal rights and obligations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations throughout the probate process.
- Continuously update clients on the status of their probate cases and manage expectations.
