The role

As a Bank or Post Office Clerk, you are the person customers see when they come in to deposit money, withdraw cash, or ask questions about their account. You handle the transactions carefully, count cash, and check that everything balances at the end of the day.

You need to be friendly and patient with people, some of whom may be confused about banking or anxious about their money. You solve problems when things go wrong - like if a customer lost their card or doesn't understand a charge on their account. You work as part of a team, so if it is busy, everyone helps each other. The job requires accuracy and honesty, because mistakes with money affect real people's lives.

Daily responsibilities

  • Process customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and payments.
  • Assist customers in opening and managing their accounts, providing tailored advice.
  • Handle cash and maintain accurate financial records to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Resolve customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct routine audits of cash and other assets to prevent discrepancies.
  • Stay updated on banking products, services, and regulatory changes.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
