Computer science is the discipline concerned with how computers solve problems, how software is designed and built, and how computation can be applied across the full range of human activities. It combines theoretical foundations, including the mathematics of algorithms, the logic of programming, and the science of complexity, with practical skills in software development, systems design, and the application of computing to real-world challenges. At degree level, it develops graduates who understand both how to build things that work and why they work, which is what enables adaptation as the field continues to evolve.
