Engineering is the discipline of applying scientific and mathematical principles to design, build and improve the systems, structures and technologies that shape the world. It encompasses mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, materials and many other specialisms, but all share a common foundation: the ability to identify a problem, apply rigorous analysis and devise a workable solution. Engineers are responsible for some of the most consequential work in human society, from the bridges people cross to the energy systems that power homes and the medical devices that sustain life. At Bangor University, this three-year full-time programme includes a foundation year and a year abroad.
