Biomedical science is the discipline that bridges the gap between fundamental biological research and the clinical practice of medicine. It investigates the molecular, cellular, and physiological processes that underlie human health and disease, providing the scientific basis for the laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures that inform clinical decisions every day. From analysing blood samples and culturing microorganisms to examining tissue samples under the microscope, biomedical scientists are essential partners in the healthcare system, working largely behind the scenes to support patient care.
