Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Vehicle Paint Technician
In this entry-level position, you will assist experienced technicians in preparing surfaces and applying paint. You will gain hands-on experience and learn the basics of colour matching and finishing.
Mid-Level Vehicle Paint Technician
At this stage, you will take on more complex tasks, including colour mixing and quality control. You will work independently and may supervise junior technicians.
Senior Vehicle Paint Technician
As a senior technician, you will lead projects, mentor junior staff, and ensure that all work meets industry standards. You may also be involved in training and development programmes.
