Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Train/Tram Driver
As a junior driver, you will undergo extensive training, including classroom instruction and hands-on experience under the supervision of experienced drivers.
Mid-Level Train/Tram Driver
In this role, you will operate trains or trams independently, manage schedules, and handle passenger interactions with increased responsibility.
Senior Train/Tram Driver
As a senior driver, you will oversee operations, mentor junior drivers, and may be involved in training and safety assessments.
