Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Swimming Coach
As a Junior Swimming Coach, you will assist in training sessions, focusing on developing basic swimming skills and techniques. You will work under the supervision of more experienced coaches, gaining valuable hands-on experience.
Mid-Level Swimming Coach
In this role, you will take on more responsibility, designing training programmes for competitive swimmers and leading training sessions independently. You will also mentor junior coaches and contribute to the development of club programmes.
Senior Swimming Coach
As a Senior Swimming Coach, you will oversee the entire coaching programme, manage a team of coaches, and develop strategies for athlete recruitment and retention. You will also represent your club at regional and national levels.
