Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Shipbroker

Mid-Level Shipbroker
As a mid-level broker, you will take on more responsibility, managing your own client accounts and negotiating contracts independently. You will be expected to provide strategic advice to clients based on market analysis.
Senior Shipbroker
In a senior role, you will lead a team of brokers, develop business strategies, and build long-term relationships with key clients. Your expertise will be crucial in navigating complex shipping contracts and market fluctuations.
