Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Rugby Academy Player
At this stage, you’ll be honing your skills in a rugby academy, training intensively and competing in youth leagues. This is where you start to get noticed by scouts and clubs.
Professional Rugby Player
As a mid-career player, you’ll be signed to a professional club, competing in leagues and tournaments. Your performance will be key to your team's success, and you’ll be working on your fitness and skills daily.
International Rugby Player
At the peak of your career, you’ll represent your country on the international stage, earning significant salaries and endorsements. You’ll be a role model for aspiring athletes and a key player in major tournaments.
