Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Plumber
As a Junior Plumber, you will assist experienced plumbers in installations and repairs, gaining hands-on experience and learning the trade.
Mid-Level Plumber
In this role, you will take on more complex tasks independently, manage your own projects, and start to build a client base.
Senior Plumbing Engineer
As a Senior Plumbing Engineer, you will oversee projects, mentor junior staff, and may specialise in areas such as renewable energy or commercial plumbing.
