Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Model
Junior models typically start by building their portfolios and gaining experience through smaller gigs and local fashion events. They often work with emerging designers and photographers to establish their presence in the industry.
Mid-Level Model
Mid-level models have built a solid reputation and often work with well-known brands and designers. They may specialise in certain areas, such as commercial, editorial, or runway modelling, and have a more extensive network of industry contacts.
Senior Model
Senior models are often household names, recognised for their work in major fashion campaigns and runway shows. They command higher fees and may also engage in brand endorsements, expanding their influence beyond traditional modelling.
