Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Forestry/Fishing Manager
In this entry-level role, you will assist in managing small projects, conduct field assessments, and support senior managers in implementing sustainable practices.
Mid-level Forestry/Fishing Manager
At this stage, you will take on more responsibility, leading projects, managing teams, and developing strategies for resource management.
Senior Forestry/Fishing Manager
In a senior role, you will oversee large-scale operations, set organisational policies, and represent your organisation in high-level discussions with stakeholders.
