Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Driving Instructor
As a junior driving instructor, you will begin your career by teaching basic driving skills to students. You will work under the supervision of experienced instructors and gradually take on more responsibilities as you gain experience.
Mid-Level Driving Instructor
In this role, you will have more autonomy in your teaching methods and will be responsible for preparing students for their driving tests. You will also mentor junior instructors and contribute to the development of training programmes.
Senior Driving Instructor
As a senior driving instructor, you will lead training initiatives and develop advanced training programmes. You will also be involved in policy-making and ensuring that your organisation meets all regulatory requirements.
