Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Geriatrician
As a junior geriatrician, you will begin your journey in this specialty, working under supervision to gain experience in managing elderly patients.
Mid-level Geriatrician
In this stage, you will have gained significant experience and will be responsible for more complex cases, leading care teams and mentoring junior staff.
Senior Geriatrician
As a senior geriatrician, you will lead geriatric services, influence policy, and drive improvements in elderly care across the healthcare system.
