Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Estimator
In this role, you will assist senior estimators in gathering data, conducting site visits, and preparing preliminary reports. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the ropes and gain practical experience in the field.
Mid-Level Valuer
You will take on more responsibility, managing your own projects and clients. Your role will involve detailed analysis and the preparation of comprehensive valuation reports, as well as mentoring junior staff.
Senior Assessor
In this senior role, you will lead major projects, oversee teams, and be responsible for strategic decision-making. Your expertise will guide the direction of projects and influence high-stakes investment decisions.
