Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Designer
As a Junior Designer, you will assist in the development of design projects, working under the guidance of more experienced designers. Your role will involve creating initial design concepts and supporting the team in executing client briefs.
Mid-Level Designer
In a Mid-Level Designer role, you will take on more responsibility, leading projects and collaborating closely with clients. You will be expected to produce high-quality designs that meet client expectations and contribute to the overall creative vision.
Senior Designer
As a Senior Designer, you will oversee design projects from conception to completion, mentoring junior designers and ensuring that all work aligns with the client's strategic goals. Your expertise will guide the creative direction of projects, making you a key player in the design team.
