Deliveroo Rider

A Deliveroo rider collects food from restaurants and delivers it to customers by bike, scooter or car, using an app to pick up jobs. It suits people who want flexible, active, be-your-own-boss work and don't mind being out in all weathers.

The Role & Expectations

The work is logging into the app, accepting orders, riding to the restaurant, collecting the food and getting it to the customer quickly and in good condition. Knowing your area, riding safely and staying polite under time pressure matter, and you manage your own hours and how much you take on.

You are self-employed, paid per delivery rather than by the hour, so earnings vary with how busy it is, the weather and the time of day, and there is no sick pay or holiday pay. It is physically demanding, often cold and wet, and you cover your own bike, fuel and phone costs.

There are no qualifications needed beyond being old enough and having the right to work, plus a safe bike or a licensed and insured vehicle. You register through the app, handle your own tax as self-employed, and provide your own safety gear.
