Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Career Counselor
In an entry-level role, you will assist experienced counselors in providing support to clients, conducting initial assessments, and helping to organise career workshops.
Mid-level Career Counselor
At this stage, you will independently manage a caseload of clients, providing comprehensive career guidance and developing tailored programmes.
Senior Career Counselor/Head of Career Services
In a senior role, you will oversee career services, develop strategic initiatives, and lead a team of counselors to enhance client support and outcomes.
