Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Behaviour Support Assistant
In this entry-level role, you will assist experienced staff in implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting students with their daily activities.
Mid-Level Behaviour Support Assistant
At this stage, you will take on more responsibility, developing and implementing behaviour plans and working closely with teachers and parents to support student needs.
Senior Behaviour Support Assistant
In a senior role, you will lead behaviour support initiatives, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with school leadership to enhance overall student support strategies.
