Career Progression Path
Is this the only route?
This is the standard academic trajectory, but modern careers are highly flexible. You can often skip stages by entering the industry with an advanced qualification (like a Master's or PhD), or pivot sideways from a related discipline.
University Degree
Usually 3 to 4 years of full-time academic study, explicitly preparing you for the theoretical realities of the industry.
Junior Acupuncturist
As a Junior Acupuncturist, you will assist in patient assessments and begin to build your client base under the supervision of experienced practitioners.
Mid-Level Acupuncturist
In this role, you will manage your own patient caseload, develop treatment plans, and may begin to specialise in certain areas of acupuncture.
Senior Acupuncturist
As a Senior Acupuncturist, you will lead treatment programmes, mentor junior staff, and may also engage in research or teaching within the field.
