About this course
Mechanical engineering is the discipline at the heart of how the physical world is shaped by human design. It is concerned with the conception, design, construction, and operation of machines, structures, and industrial systems that serve an enormous range of purposes, from precision medical devices to large-scale energy infrastructure. The discipline draws on mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and mathematics, and it applies these foundations to the challenge of building systems that are safer, more durable, more cost-effective, and more efficient. At Robert Gordon University, this part-time BEng (Hons) programme in Mechanical Engineering allows you to develop your engineering qualifications while managing other professional or personal commitments. You will study the core technical areas of the discipline, gaining the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to the design,
