The University of London is a federal institution in the capital, founded in 1836 and made up of a number of world renowned member colleges and specialist institutes. Rather than a single campus it is a confederation spread across central London and beyond.

It is known collectively for exceptional breadth and depth across the arts, sciences, law, medicine and the social sciences through its constituent colleges, and for its long established international and distance learning programmes.
