Mechanical engineering is crucial to the advancement of technology, the enhancement of human well-being, and the promotion of sustainable development. You’ll develop skills that could help you develop energy-efficient systems to minimise waste, reduce energy consumption or mitigate environmental impact.

You’ll also learn financial, strategic and project management – equipping you with the skills to manage complex engineering projects and lead multidisciplinary teams. At Sussex, we undertake world-class research, which enriches your teaching. Our Dynamics, Control and Vehicle Research Group and the Thermo-Fluid Mechanics Research Centre, develop innovative concepts across many areas, including vehicle technology and efficient aero-engines.
