About this course

Electronic and electrical engineering is the discipline responsible for the power systems that energise modern life, the communications networks that connect it, and the electronic devices and sensors embedded in everything from consumer technology to medical equipment and industrial control systems. At Sunderland, this four-year full-time programme includes an integrated foundation year, designed for students who are returning to study, who need additional academic preparation, or who want a smooth and supported start to degree-level engineering study. The foundation year provides a structured introduction to the mathematical and scientific foundations of the main degree, which then covers electrical circuit theory, power electronics, signal processing, control systems, and digital and analogue electronics. The programme also incorporates a sandwich placement year, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities, giving you substantial professional and international experience.
