About this course

Enterprise and innovation is a field of study that takes seriously the challenge of creating new value, whether within an existing organisation or through building something entirely new. It draws on business theory, design thinking, technology, and leadership to understand how ideas are developed, tested, and transformed into products, services, or organisations that work in the real world. In an era of rapid technological change and economic disruption, the ability to lead innovation and manage the process of digital transformation is one of the most sought-after capabilities in organisations of every kind.

At Birkbeck College, University of London, this three-year full-time programme develops cutting-edge skills in business, technology, creativity, and leadership, with a particular focus on the management of innovation and entrepreneurship. You will develop your understanding of how businesses create and sustain competitive advantage through new ideas, how technology is disrupting established industries, and how people within and between organisations can be led and motivated to embrace change. The programme also introduces you to the core functions of business, ensuring that you understand the broader commercial context in which innovation happens and the ways in which people management contributes to organisational success.

Graduates of enterprise and innovation programmes go on to careers in start-up and scale-up businesses, innovation roles within large organisations, product management, business development, technology consultancy, and social enterprise. The entrepreneurial mindset and business skills the degree develops are valued across every sector, and many graduates go on to launch their own ventures. Postgraduate study in entrepreneurship, innovation management, or an MBA is a natural route for those who wish to develop their thinking further or move into more senior leadership roles in innovation-intensive environments.

Genuinely worthwhile
The programme genuinely lives up to its reputation. The best part: the cohort are bright and motivated, which makes the learning environment great. If I'm honest, accommodation allocation was stressful in the first year. On the city — good

A great decision
I've grown so much academically and personally here. The best part: the opportunity to do independent research in the final year is a highlight. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city — local cost of living is man
