About this course

Business and management at degree level is the study of how organisations function, how they are led, and how they create and sustain value in complex and changing environments. The discipline draws on economics, psychology, sociology, and quantitative methods to examine how decisions are made under uncertainty, how people are motivated and coordinated, how markets evolve, and how organisations of all kinds, commercial, public, and voluntary, navigate the challenges of competition, regulation, and technological change.

At Buckingham this three-year full-time programme is designed to develop graduates who are agile, analytical, and creative, capable of navigating complexity, harnessing data, and driving innovation rather than simply applying frameworks learned in the classroom. The emphasis is on real-world learning and applied challenges that build the judgement and confidence needed to shape organisations and make informed decisions. The programme includes a work placement that gives you professional experience during your studies, connecting academic development to the realities of business practice.

Buckingham's small size and tutorial-style teaching mean you will develop close working relationships with staff and receive a genuinely personalised educational experience. The degree is structured to build leadership capability alongside technical business knowledge, equipping you to guide organisations through complexity and deliver sustainable impact.

Business and management graduates work across virtually every sector of the economy, finding roles in management, marketing, finance, operations, consulting, entrepreneurship, and public administration. The combination of analytical thinking, communication skills, and leadership development the programme emphasises is valued by employers who need people capable of working effectively in environments of change and uncertainty. Many graduates also continue to postgraduate study, including MBAs or specialist master's degrees in finance, marketing, or strategy, while others apply the entrepreneurial confidence the programme builds to starting their own ventures.

Genuinely worthwhile
Honestly, one of the best decisions I've made. The best part: the consulting projects with real companies genuinely prepare you for the working world. If I'm honest, first-year classes can be quite large. On the city — local cost of living
