Theology, Mission and Practice

Theology is the systematic study of religious belief, scripture, doctrine, and the life of faith communities across history and in the present day. Mission refers to the various ways in which religious communities engage with the world, seeking to share their beliefs, address social needs, and participate in public life. Practice brings these together with reflection on how theological understanding is embodied in the actual work of ministry, pastoral care, community development, and professional roles within the church and related organisations.

Studying all three together gives you both the intellectual foundation of academic theology and the practical preparation for Christian professional life.

At Roehampton University, this three-year full-time degree develops your skills and knowledge for a variety of Christian professions that call for a deep understanding of theology and practice. A foundation year is available for those who need to build their academic foundations before entering the main degree. You will engage with biblical studies, church history, systematic theology, and ethics alongside the practical and missiological dimensions of Christian ministry.
