About this course

Sport, health, and exercise sciences is a rigorous interdisciplinary field that draws on physiology, psychology, biomechanics, and nutrition to understand how the human body responds to physical activity and how sport and exercise can be used to improve health and performance. Business studies brings the analytical and managerial frameworks of commerce to bear on the organisations, events, and industries through which sport is delivered, administered, and consumed. Together, they offer a combination that is distinctive and genuinely vocational, preparing graduates for the many roles where scientific expertise meets commercial and organisational reality.

At Brunel University London, this three-year full-time BSc programme combines a strong foundation in the sciences underpinning sport and exercise with thorough grounding in business administration and management processes. In the sport and exercise sciences strand, you will study human physiology, exercise psychology, biomechanics, and sports nutrition, developing the scientific literacy and laboratory skills needed to evaluate performance, design training programmes, and understand the health effects of physical activity. In the business strand, you will study marketing, finance, strategy, and organisational behaviour, developing the professional skills and commercial awareness that the sport and leisure industry expects of its managers.

The year abroad is an integral part of the programme, giving you the opportunity to study in another country and to develop an international perspective on both the science and the business of sport.

You will graduate with a combination of scientific knowledge, research skills, and business competence that is valued across the sport, health, and leisure industries.

Graduates go on to careers in sport science support, fitness and exercise consultancy, sports administration, event management, health promotion, and commercial roles within professional sport, leisure, and health organisations. Many also move into roles in public health, rehabilitation, and coaching. Postgraduate study in sport science, exercise physiology, sports management, or public health is a well-supported route for those seeking further specialisation.
