Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour, using empirical methods to investigate questions about how people perceive, think, feel, remember, learn, and act. It is a discipline of unusual breadth, encompassing the neuroscience of perception and memory, the psychology of social influence and group behaviour, developmental processes from infancy through to old age, and the clinical understanding of mental health and psychological difficulty. At the University of Northampton, this three-year full-time programme provides a broad and thorough introduction to psychology across its major domains. You will study cognitive psychology, social psychology, developmental psychology, biological psychology, individual differences, and abnormal psychology, building a comprehensive understanding of the field. Research methods and statistics are central to the curriculum throughout: psychology is an empirical science, and the ability to design studies, collect and analyse data, and evaluate research critically is fundamental to the degree.
