Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour, bringing rigorous empirical methods to bear on some of the most complex and fundamental questions about human experience. It examines how people perceive, think, remember, feel and act, and it investigates how these processes are shaped by biological, developmental, social and cultural factors. At the University of Kent you will engage with the full breadth of psychology across a three-year full-time programme, developing expertise in areas that reflect the department's particular strengths, including facial recognition, social inequality, child development and moral psychology. You will study the core fields of psychological science, including cognitive, social, developmental, biological and abnormal psychology, and you will develop the research skills in experimental design and statistical analysis that are central to the discipline. The British Psychological Society-accredited programme provides the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, which is the foundation for postgraduate training as a clinical, counselling, educational, occupational or forensic psychologist. Many graduates also move directly into careers in healthcare, social services, human resources, research, education, marketing and business, where psychological knowledge and the analytical skills developed through the degree are genuine assets.
