Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour, addressing questions that are fundamental to how we understand ourselves and each other. Why do people think, feel, and act the way they do? How does the brain support cognition, emotion, and consciousness?

How do social environments shape individual development? What distinguishes typical from atypical psychological functioning, and what can be done to support wellbeing? The discipline is both empirical, drawing on experimental methods and statistical analysis, and deeply human, concerned with experiences and relationships that matter in everyday life.

At Manchester Metropolitan University, this three-year degree covers all the core elements of psychological study that are required for eligibility as a graduate basis for chartered membership of the British Psychological Society. You will study lifespan development, neuropsychology, social psychology, cognitive psychology, and critical psychology, developing both a broad understanding of the field and the research skills to engage with it scientifically. Research methods training is central to the programme, equipping you with the quantitative and qualitative tools to design studies, collect and analyse data, and interpret findings critically.
