Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour and the mental processes that underlie it, exploring how we perceive, think, feel, remember, decide and interact from the perspective of empirical science. It is a discipline that spans the microscopic, examining the neural basis of experience and behaviour, and the macroscopic, exploring how groups, cultures and social contexts shape what we do and who we become. The methods of psychology range from controlled laboratory experiments and neuroimaging to surveys, interviews and naturalistic observation.

At Leeds Beckett University, this part-time BSc explores human behaviour through a balance of scientific theory, research and real-world application, as the university's own description puts it. From the outset you will build the skills to investigate behaviour, analyse evidence and think through the lens of a psychologist. The degree includes a sandwich year, a year abroad and work placement opportunities, providing structured routes to develop professional experience and international perspective alongside your academic study.

Part-time delivery means the degree is accessible to those who are managing other commitments, whether work, family or other responsibilities, while still providing the rigorous scientific education that a qualifying psychology degree requires.

The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society, providing the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership that is the required first step toward professional psychological practice.
