Psychology, crime, and justice is a combination that brings together the science of mind and behaviour with the practical and ethical questions of how society responds to crime and criminal justice. At the University of Bedfordshire, this four-year programme includes a placement, giving you the chance to spend time in a relevant professional environment, whether a criminal justice agency, a psychological service, a social care organisation, or a research setting. The placement develops your professional skills and your understanding of how psychological and criminological knowledge is applied in practice. You will study core psychology content, including cognitive, social, developmental, and biological psychology, research methods, and statistical analysis, alongside criminological content covering crime causation, criminal justice systems, victimology, and the psychology of policing, the courts, and incarceration.

Graduates pursue careers in criminal justice agencies, including probation services, the police, the prison service, and youth offending teams, where psychological understanding of behaviour informs both practice and management. Social care, mental health services, and voluntary organisations supporting people with complex needs are other significant employers.
