Primary education teaching, with a specialism in modern languages, prepares you to become a teacher in Scottish primary schools with a particular expertise in languages that can enrich children's linguistic experience from the early years. At the University of Stirling, this four-year full-time degree is a professional teacher education programme that leads to registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland. You will spend extensive time in primary school classrooms throughout the degree, developing your teaching skills under experienced supervision and building the practical confidence that the profession requires. The modern language specialism develops your own language proficiency alongside pedagogical knowledge specific to teaching languages to young children.

A year abroad is built into the programme, giving you the opportunity to develop both your language skills and your international perspective through study or professional experience in another country.
