Politics and international relations is a combination that explores power at every level from local governance and domestic policy to the global dynamics between states, international organisations, and non-state actors. Politics develops the analytical tools to understand how governments are formed and maintained, how policy is made, how political institutions function, and how public opinion and social movements shape what happens in democratic societies. International relations examines the interactions between states and other actors in the global arena, including questions of security, trade, diplomacy, conflict, and cooperation.

The three-year full-time Politics and International Relations programme at Edge Hill University is designed and delivered with input from political practitioners to ensure you develop the skills needed to secure graduate employment in politics, international relations, the civil service, and the third sector. You will engage with the rapidly changing political environment both at home and abroad, developing your understanding of the political agenda while also building the capacity for real-world engagement with politics, policy-making, and political research.
