About this course

Physics is the science of matter, energy, space, and time, and it underpins almost everything we know about the natural world. From the subatomic particles inside an atom to the large-scale structure of the universe, physicists ask fundamental questions and develop the mathematical and experimental tools to answer them. Studying physics develops your capacity for rigorous quantitative reasoning, your ability to build and test models of how the world works, and your skill in communicating complex ideas precisely, all of which are valuable far beyond the discipline itself.

The Physics degree at Aberystwyth University is a three-year full-time programme accredited by the Institute of Physics and designed to support your development in a positive learning environment. The programme carries a typical entry tariff of 120 points. You will study classical mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics, thermodynamics, optics, and atomic and nuclear physics, alongside laboratory work that develops your experimental technique and your ability to gather and interpret data.
