At the University of York, this four-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year with work placement and incorporates work placement opportunities throughout, allowing you to develop professional skills and experience alongside your academic study. The work placement gives you a structured opportunity to apply your skills in a professional context, whether in a German-speaking country, a cultural institution, a research environment, or another setting relevant to your interests. Philosophy at York is taught with rigour and range, covering analytic and continental traditions, ethics, political philosophy, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mind and language.

The German element develops your language skills alongside your engagement with German literature, history, and cultural life, with the option to study at beginner, intermediate, or advanced level depending on your prior experience.

The programme carries a typical tariff of 152 points.
