Philosophy, politics, and economics, known widely as PPE, is one of the most intellectually demanding and professionally respected degree programmes available. Each discipline contributes something distinct. Philosophy develops rigorous logical thinking, the ability to construct and evaluate arguments, and engagement with fundamental questions about ethics, knowledge, and political legitimacy.

Politics examines how power is organised, exercised, and contested, covering democratic theory, comparative government, international relations, and the making of public policy. Economics provides quantitative and analytical tools for understanding how markets, institutions, and incentives shape human behaviour and collective outcomes.

PPE graduates go on to some of the most influential careers available to any graduate. The combination is the traditional pathway into the senior civil service, Parliament, think tanks, and political consultancy. Economics graduates from PPE programmes also move into finance, investment banking, and economic consultancy.

The philosophical and ethical dimensions of the degree are valued in law, public policy, journalism, and international organisations.
