Pharmacology with Research Placement

Pharmacology is the scientific study of how drugs interact with biological systems, how they produce their therapeutic and toxic effects, and how they are absorbed, distributed, metabolised, and excreted by the body. Following the foundation year, you will study the core content of pharmacology, covering the mechanisms by which drugs act on receptors, enzymes, ion channels, and other molecular targets, the physiology of major organ systems and how drugs affect them, the principles of pharmacokinetics, and the processes by which drugs are developed, tested, and brought to market. The programme includes a research placement, giving you direct experience of working in a research environment, whether in an academic laboratory, a pharmaceutical company, or another research setting.
