Pharmacology
Pharmacology is the science of drugs: how they interact with biological systems, how they produce their effects both therapeutic and toxic, and how they are developed, tested, and regulated. The foundation year builds your scientific confidence and knowledge across biology, chemistry, and quantitative reasoning before you move into the main pharmacology programme. You will then study drug mechanisms, receptor pharmacology, drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics, toxicology, neuropharmacology, and the drug discovery and development process, developing both the theoretical understanding and the laboratory skills that the discipline requires.
