Pharmacology

Pharmacology is the science of drugs: how they act on biological systems, how the body handles them, and how they can be developed and used to treat disease. At Newcastle University, this three-year full-time programme includes a sandwich year with work placement, a year abroad, and work placement opportunities embedded throughout, making it one of the most practically oriented pharmacology degrees in the UK. The sandwich year gives you the opportunity to spend an extended period working within a pharmaceutical company, research institution, or clinical environment, seeing how pharmacological knowledge is applied in practice and building the professional experience that graduate employers value.
