At the University of the West of England in Bristol, this three-year, full-time degree prepares you for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a learning disabilities nurse. You will develop knowledge in areas including human development, the legal and ethical frameworks governing the support of people with learning disabilities, therapeutic approaches, communication strategies, and the full range of health conditions that people with learning disabilities experience at higher rates than the general population. Clinical placements in community, residential, and healthcare settings are central to the training, giving you direct experience working alongside people with learning disabilities and the professionals who support them.
